+What is the CoolSculpting Procedure?

The CoolSculpting Procedure is a new, non-invasive way to gently and effectively reduce fat in targeted areas of your body, resulting in noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction in the treated areas. What makes the CoolSculpting Procedure different is its advanced cooling technology that targets and eliminates fat cells. Unlike traditional invasive surgical procedures, the CoolSculpting Procedure is non-invasive, with no needles and no incisions. There is no need for anesthesia and there is no recovery time. The procedure is performed in a medical office, under the supervision of a physician. The CoolSculpting Procedure for non-invasive fat layer reduction is available in 52 countries worldwide and more than 5 million treatments has been performed. The CoolSculpting device is also cleared by the FDA in the United States for non-invasive fat layer reduction.

+ What makes The CoolSculpting Center of Boulder different from other CoolSculpting offices?

Unlike most other practices that offer CoolSculpting, the CoolSculpting Center of Boulder ONLY provides CoolSculpting. We are also one of the only medical offices who has a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of Emergency Department experience on staff performing CoolSculpting treatments. Our packages offer patients the best price per CoolSculpting cycle. Our packages are the most cost-effective way to get the CoolSculpting results you desire. We will not waste your time trying to upsell other products and services.

+ Is there downtime after the CoolSculpting Procedure?

There could be mild bruising in some patients, but there is no recovery time after the Procedure. You may resume your normal activities on the same day as your procedure, including work and exercise.

+ How long is each CoolSculpting treatment?

The length of your CoolSculpting treatment will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. The latest technology of CoolSculpting can treat a patient in 35-60 minutes, some patients have more than one treatment during the same office visit. You and your technician may also schedule additional treatments or office visits in order to meet your goals.

+ Am I a good candidate for the CoolSculpting Procedure?

Ideal candidates for the CoolSculpting Procedure are within a healthy range of body weight, but have fat bulges that are not easily reduced through diet and exercise. They are seeking reduction for specific areas of fat, but are not considering a surgical procedure. The CoolSculpting Procedure is not a way to lose weight or treat obesity, and it is not a substitute for invasive methods like liposuction. During a consultation, your provider can talk with you about whether you are a good candidate for the CoolSculpting Procedure.

+ Will I benefit from additional CoolSculpting Procedures?

A follow-up visit should be scheduled with your CoolSculpting provider two to four months after your procedure to assess your cosmetic improvement and consider whether you can achieve greater fat reduction from additional CoolSculpting Procedures.

+ What does CoolSculpting feel like? Is it painful?

The treatment begins with the placement of a cold gel pad on the skin in the area to be treated. The applicator is placed on the gel pad and the suction is turned on. Patients will typically feel slight tugging at the skin and will feel intense cold for about 5-8 minutes until the treated area becomes numb. At that point, most patients will read, watch a movie on our smart tv or relax and enjoy a brief nap.

When the treatment concludes (35-60 minutes), our CoolSculpting Specialist will remove the applicator and the gel pad and perform a brief two minute massage in order to help break up the frozen, crystallized cells. Some patients feel some tingling and uncomfortable sensations during the massage, but it only lasts for two minutes. We encourage our patients to relax for a few minutes on the treatment bed to allow any uncomfortable sensations to subside. Once they are gone, patients can go about their day to day business. There is NO DOWNTIME with CoolSculpting.

+ How does the CoolSculpting Procedure work?

The CoolSculpting Procedure works by means of a scientific principle called “Cryolipolysis™ invented by Drs. Manstein and Anderson at Harvard Medical School.” During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of your body. When fat cells are exposed to cooling during the CoolSculpting Procedure, it triggers a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The result (will vary) is a reduction in fat bulges that is visible most patients in two to four months.

+ What happens to the frozen fat cells? Do they come back?

Once they are gone, they are gone for good. Each CoolSculpting treatment kills 20 to 25% of the targeted fat cells. In the weeks and months following the procedure the fat cells that die are metabolized and removed from the body naturally. This process takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks, but can continue for up to 16 weeks after the treatment.
